Location and comfortable stay

Excellent location. Easy walk to the castle and other sites. Loads of great restaurants nearby. Rooms were clean. No family rooms so we had to book two separate rooms to accomodate four.

Very good hotel close to castle and city centre

Very close to the castle (like 5 minutes walk) and to the city centre (2 minutes to the river bridgeand the frog street). Friendly staff. Very clean room. Comfortable bed! Very high water pressure shower. Limited parking on site but possibility to park nearby (3 minutes walk max) via the hotel. We had a spacious room. Lots of restaurants nearby. Overall, it is a very good choice for a mini break in matsumoto!

When comparing with hotels of the same category booked during our trip across Japan, we felt that the room furniture is quite basic (same for the bathroom) and looks tired. Also, the maximum light setting at night does not give you much light (already mentioned in other reviews)....

Good stay at Matsumoto

Centrally located hotel, near the Matsumoto Castle. There is free parking (with reservation). There are good restaurants, bakery and cafes nearby. The staff are friendly and polite.

Nice, well located corporate hotel, free bikes, good location and staff. Small rooms.

Hotel very well located for the castle, and for local shopping. They had well maintained free bikes for exploring and going along the river. The room was very clean and comfortable, but quite small. No hot baths, quite large compared to other hotels we stayed at, quite corporate but lovely staff who were very helpful. We had a nice single night there, no complaints at all. Pleased with our choice.

Double bed was next to the wall, so only one person could get out easily. Not a problem for us, but maybe for another couple it was be an issue.

Nice hotel to stay if visiting the Matsumoto castle

3 mins walk to castle to view the cherry trees. Good breakfast buffet. Allowed us to check in at 2 plus. Nice tea provided at the lobby.

Great location, would recommend!

The rooms were great, quite spacious. The location was very convenient to get anywhere in the city quickly. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We were able to store our luggage there at the day of departure until we were leaving. There was also a free water bottle which could be used to refill around the city.

The breakfast is a mix of asian and western but quite pricey for what you get. Also there were usually quite small portions available and one had to wait until it was refilled. Nevertheless a very nice place to have breakfast and again nice staff.

It was really great.

Breakfast was great.

There was nothing to complain about. But we were 3 of us. The room felt small. But for a small room, we were comfortable.

The hotel is very nice ,newly built and 5 min walk from Matsumoto castle …every restaurant was walkable from hotel location !

They should serve more non meat items ( suitable for vegetarians) in the breakfast buffet

What was the highlight of Matsumoto Marunouchi Hotel

Pleasant stay in a quiet area.

The location near Matsumoto Castle was very good. There was a 7-11 right near the castle entrance which was very convenient because there was hardly any choice in restaurants around the hotel for dining, so we had to make do with convenience store snacks because we were too tired to go far for dinner at night. The room was well appointed. The beds were very comfortable. The kitchenette with kettle, microwave and refrigerator was very welcome. Quite large breakfast selection with a separate Japanese and Western section. All day free tea/coffee in the lobby was welcome, and one morning I even found chocolates :-D Very pleasant and helpful staff who could communicate in basic English.

There was a French restaurant (and also a Japanese restaurant if I remember right) advertised in the elevator but found there was no such restaurant in the hotel. That was disappointing. The hotel needs to let us know that the entrance is on the side street, as there is nothing in the front on the main street to indicate where the hotel is, let alone the entrance is (this is where Google map tells you to stop).
